THE ANGLER

I like the competition. There are so many good fishermen out there right now, that when you can beat all those great sticks, that’s a huge accomplishment. I grew up fishing saltwater with my Grandfather since I was old enough to walk. It’s been a part of my life since I can remember, and I still love it today. I would like to continue fishing regionally at a high level and hopefully get a few more wins before I am too old to fish at the highest level anymore. I’m not getting any younger and after 37 years of tournament fishing, the body starts to ache a lot more. If things were to hold up, thoughts of trying The Tour are also a possibility. I hope my body can hold up for many more years to come.

OFF THE WATER
Residing in the town of Kelseyville, California, Wayne patiently awaits the next tournament. When he’s not bass fishing, he likes snow skiing with his wife Lizzy, duck hunting, golfing, saltwater fishing, and traveling to tropical places.

MOTIVATION

I like the competition. There are so many good fishermen out there right now, that when you can beat all those great sticks, that’s a huge accomplishment. I grew up fishing saltwater with my Grandfather since I was old enough to walk. It’s been a part of my life since I can remember, and I still love it today. I love being on the water.

SKILLS

My main strength has to definitely be light line fishing. I like to fish light line because I think it gets more bites. Get the bite and then worry about getting it in the boat. I like fishing clear water, and I love to sight fish. I also love to catch fish ripping. Deep cranking is also one of my favorites.

  • Reaction Baits
  • Flipping/Pitching/Punching
  • Frogs/Topwater
  • Swimbaits/Big Baits
  • Finesse Fishing
  • Shallow Water
  • Deep Water
On the water, what do you consider being some of your weaknesses?
I’m not a big swim bait guy. Those big baits just aren’t really my thing. Jigs are another bait that I don’t throw that much.
